ABOUT THE TIBETAN MEDITATION CENTER

The benefits of meditation

Meditation is beneficial for everyone. We can understand the benefits of meditation on the mind when we understand how the mind is connected to our physical health. When we have mental tension, our physical state is also tense. When we exercise the mind through meditation, our whole presence becomes fluid and flexible. Meditation leads to mindfulness, and mindfulness refreshes our mind, body, and speech in everyday life.

At the Tibetan Meditation Center, anyone can join and learn how to meditate. Our goal is to spread the knowledge and benefits of meditation in order to spread inner peace and world peace.

About our teacher

Geshe Wangden Tashi is the founder of the center. He has taught Buddhist meditation in many countries. His passion is to help people discover who they are. He believes we need to understand the precious value of life. If we know our life is precious, we can continue to build peaceful communities, and a peaceful world.

He sees Buddhism as a path of psychological study. He was ordained at age nine and in Tibet, and immigrated to India at age 15 in 1987. To obtain geshe status, he had to study vigorously for over 20 years. Geshe is a title bestowed to monks as an academic degree equivalent to a PhD.

Geshe Tashi feels a close connection to Colorado because it reminds him of his home in Tibet. He welcomes everyone to the center, no matter what background, beliefs, or religion.
